Hey everybody! How was your week. I hope that all went well for you.
This week was good. Things are going good in the area. We had a baptism for some sweet guys. One, Mohamed
Kargbo, and two Tommy
Ngevao. Sweet guys. Mohamed, we started teaching him with some other of his friends. At first he seemed a little non-committed compared to some of the others but through time we could see that he was the most committed. He was always coming to church and missing school (Muslim School) knowing the risks of getting beat for going to church instead while the other boys who go to a Christian school weren't coming. Over all he really brightened up the teaching as we could see his small small changes and happiness. The other, Tommy was a Muslim as well. His whole family is Muslim and haven't been too happy with him coming to church and all. He is an interesting guy but very committed. just the other day we were sitting with him talking about his baptism that was to be Saturday. He was talking about how his family doesn't really want him to join but he said that he is ready for whatever they do, say, or whatever that he knows this is where he is supposed to be. We were super excited. It was funny though that as he prayed he kind of had a apostate
zoramite prayer as if at the
rameumpton asking Heavenly Father that his family might be beneath him. it was kind of funny and we don't know if he realized what he was saying. But it showed from what he said that he was ready to endure. It was awesome. If we could have all people have that attitude toward things than all thing would be great.
On Tuesday we had an interesting experience. You know how like on the other side of heaven when they are out on their hike to go have a picnic and the girl tries to corner him... Well.. it wasn't quite like that but we both were thinking exactly what he said.... This would never have happened in Idaho ha ha. What had happened was we were going to see one of our investigators that lives next to the above mentioned Mohamed. We were just visiting with him and then we noticed in the background by the side of the house was a young woman who was bathing. The weird thing when a woman baths outside is they still bath with clothes on, well a bra (usually) and underwear. She was wearing these and we just were ignoring her. She kept calling things to try and get our attention. we were now leaving quickly and could tell that she had started to remove some of the above mentioned items. As we were in our next lesson we were both thinking that same thing as Elder
Groberg. This would never of happened in Utah!!
Other than that, the week was good. The branch had an activity for the young single adults.. they don't really divide, it was just for all the youth. It was about dating... All of us Elders had to just laugh during the teaching because they truly don't understand what real dating is here and probably won't for a long time. But it was good and kept them all entertained which was good.
Our branch president, Pres. George has done really well for us this weekend. For the last few weeks it has been really hard to work with the branch and there has just been a gap growing between the two of us. But as we talked to him about it we could really see the changes in him on his part and he really helped to get some things back into play with us and the members especially the branch missionaries which is good.
We are looking forward to this week and trying to build up the area with many new people before the transfer ends and most likely some changes int he companionship... I'm doing good. The rain is starting to come. Today it was raining real good while we were doing our cleaning. so i collected a bucket and took it to bath..... WOW that was cold!!!! Lets just say to all those who know scouting that it was basically like doing the polar bear just to take a bath. If the rain is going to be like that this year... it is going to be tough to take a shower.haha :) You should try it. It is actually quite a thrill.
