Ha ha. April Fools.
You thought you weren't getting a letter didn't ya... Yesterday was the Easter Monday National Holiday so all of the Cafe's were closed so we weren't able to email. President gave us all the okay to email today instead. So, sorry to keep you waiting.
Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and that it was full of the Spirit and remembrance of the Savior and what he has done for us.
On Saturday we had a big program for the district that the missionaries put on. It was really good. They did a combine baptismal service as part of the program for all missionaries who had somebody to baptize. I think there was about 17 people baptized. It was sweet. There was three people from my former area of Messima that were baptized. I was soooo super excited to see them and see their baptism. I was sad to be leaving the area because of them and I wouldn't get to
finish with them. But in the end it was okay and all things worked out. As part of the program we played some of the very new videos from the life of Christ. It was really good. only a few of the Elders here had ever seen them before coming. I liked them. For those that showed up they all said that they really liked it too. And people here in Salone really love to watch their films so it kept them really interested.
As missionaries we sang a couple songs. One as a whole group of Hymn 191 and then a small group of us sang Hymn 129. It was really good. My companion and I would practice both songs as we would proselyte to make sure we had our parts down well. it was fun but we got very many odd looks from people that were kind of funny.
The dry season in starting to come in. It is getting hot and the well at our house is getting low with water. We still have water but it is small. Hopefully we can manage smart with the water so we can last through the season. This week, there was a few days that we had to keep going to the neighbors to get water from their well because we couldn't get any from ours. Then finally late thrusday night we were all tired of that so we were trying to figure things out with our pump and tank to see what the problem was. After some time and trying to clear out pipes and try different things we found our valve had been closed by some passerby. Wow!! we went almost three days because somebody came, found our valve, and turned it... we felt like idiots. haha. But we recovered it so that they can't get to it again.
At the apartment we don't have a compound wall and so all of the neighbor kids are always playing in the yard and what not. Well, since my companion and my windows face the street all of the little kids are always climbing at our window to watch us and annoy us. Some of them are sweet kids and i love them tons. but some of the others just drive my absolutely crazy! There is one boy named Abdulai who when i first came he just hit the wrong buttons and he drove me crazy. But now he has gotten to my good side. It was funny because the other day one of the others told us that they were sending him to village. So we asked him when he was leaving.. His reply..... MANGO TIME!! yes, mango time. Just goes to show you that out in the village they still use times of the seasons to make a calendar and nothing else. Mango time is starting right now. It is officially in April. We just had a good laugh about that one. so from now on i would like to refer to the month of April as Mango Time.
One thing about Sundays on mission is that you would think they would be relaxing and what not, but i'm not going to lie when i say that they are probably one of the hardest days of the week. On sunday this one was pretty hard. We got bounced by just about every investigator that we have. We walked Boku! as the day was coming down we didn't have anywhere else to go and we were both just dead tired. We decided to head back in and take a new look at things and try to figure out how we can better arrange the area and investigators. As we got in for the day and were closing for the week to send in our numbers we were very shocked. As we looked at everything our numbers were a lot better
than what we had expected at all. We were very glad to see that the Lord had blessed us so much even when we had thought that we had had a kind of bad week. It really helped cheer us up and give us a little extra zeal for this week. It just goes to show that when you are going about doing what you're supposed to be doing that the Lord will bless you and help you along the way even when you feel as if you're not going anywhere.
Mom, I hope you had a good time in Arizona, I'm a little jealous. I wish i could go relax like that. You had asked about a package. As for right now i was thinking it might be good to receive another nice journal. I still have space in mine but from the looks of it I will need another in not too much time. So When ever things happen i'd like a new one of those.
Well, I hope that all is going well and that things go good for the week.
I love you all tons!
Love your son,
Elder Jones
