March 28, 2012

Hello my Dearest Mother.

Well, it looks like we might actually be able to email while we are here in the MTC. (you are supposed to email back) haha. Things are good. I am getting used to the heat and humidity. It is easier to sleep now that i'm used to the heat. The food is still alright. They give us MASSIVE portions here. Most of us Americans can't finish it all which is ok. they don't expect us to. But the other elders who are mostly the same size as us or even smaller just pack it away. I have no idea how they do it. And they scarf it down as well.
We just went to the temple today. It was pretty awesome. a lot of the elders that are from Nigeria hadn't been through the temple yet so we got to help them go through. It was a neat experience. The temple is pretty small but still very beautiful. we will get to go back next week and do some of the family names of the elders and sisters that are here. they are super excited to go and do their family work. hopefully the people working there will have figured everything out because they were all over the place in confusement because there was so many of us and for what they had set up with the missionaries. While we were there they were supposed to give all the missionaries a bag that had all the clothes that we needed. but, they didn't have a bag for me. haha. It is a good thing i already everything except the packet and shoes so those were easy to get. after we got out they were giving some garments to all the missionaries as well. when i got over there they didn't have my bag for that as well, so, somehow my name got missed but that is ok it all worked out well.
Everybody was in shock and awe when they saw my fan chart with all of our family on it. it was pretty cool to see how amazed they were and it made me kind of proud that we are so far along with our family work compared to everybody here. way to go Grandpa Jones! haha.
Today while we were traveling to and from the Ghana Temple the traffic was crazy! people are all over the place in the streets trying to sell things to cars that are passing by. I swear, one of them is going to get hit. Everybody honks non stop! there are basically no traffic rules it seems, just manuver your way in, cut everybody off, manuver some more and get where you're going. i'm glad i don't have to drive here. i wonder if it will be the same in Sierra Leone.
During our free time I have been able to play football(soccer) with the Nigerians. it has been way fun. a lot of them just play in their flip flops. They go nuts the whole game and are yelling at each other over the littlest of things. They don't have a lot of order to things. they all are not very patient and just barge their way into things, especially lines. they just push and shove, they hate waiting. During meetings they all crack jokes and laugh the whole time. All of us Americans were pretty disgusted at the site of this. We don't know if it is a cultural thing or not but it made all of us a little bugged by it. they all have great and strong testimonies! but when it comes to meetings and stuff they kinda kill it for everybody. But hopefully they will learn to be more quiet and respectful during meetings and stuff. haha.
Classes have been going good. Sometimes it is hard to stay awake because it is hot in the rooms it makes me sleepy. I'm doing my best to learn all that i can during all of the classes. We have had a couple scenario investigators that we have been able to teach.( our teachers played roles) they have been going pretty good.
How was it going to the temple with Adam? How did he like it? You will have to tell Aunt Gina to tell Issac that if he wants his peanut butter he will have to come by the mtc to get it. because i can't leave it anywhere for him and if i tried at the temple they would be so comfused and would probably lose it. haha :)
You will need to give me the rest of the families email address. It is a good thing I can remember yours or else these emails might have been difficult. ha ha
